Strike Gold is the second progressive slots game to be released by Rival
Gaming. It follows hot on the heels of the first release, bringing to
mind the old adage that it never rains but it pours. In this case it's
pouring gold, in a slot that's literally overflowing with the yellow stuff.
Thankfully it's all tastefully done in matte colours, otherwise there
would have been just a bit too much glitter.
Strike Gold Progressive Slot is, like the previous release, a simple
classic 3 reel slot. It has a single payline on which you can bet either
one or two coins, at a fixed coin size of $1. So pretty solid fare there,
and completely standard for the genre. Winning is simply a matter of lining
up the symbols on a single line, mostly of the same type, although there
are a few hybrid combinations that will pay out. There are no scatters
or extra features, but there is a Wild symbol, which is the game logo.
As is always the case, it substitutes for all other symbols, and when
it does so in a winning combination it pays out up to 4x the normal amount
- depending on how many of them you get.
Clearly the aim is on getting as many spins in as possible, with the
target being that progressive jackpot. For the uninitiated, a progressive
jackpot works by taking a small percentage of every single player's every
bet on the game, and adding it to the jackpot pool. This is what you win
when you hit the jackpot. At the time of review this stood at almost $9,000,
so it's already pretty healthy, given that this is a brand new release.
To hit the jackpot you need 3 game logos in a row, and you have to have
bet the maximum amount.
The jackpot is not the only attractive feature of this slot - the second
best payout is a very good $2,000, so it's worth checking out even if
you're not feeling completely on top of your luck.
