August 17 - When Cryptologic released the second game - Street Fighter IV - in its Street Fighter series very recently, it was only natural that players would turn around and make comparisons between the first in this series, Street Fighter II.
Nonetheless, on close inspection, it was found that Street Fighter IV is only a slight improvement of its predecessor, for the simple reason that Street Fighter II is such a brilliant game in itself.
Street Fighter IV is exciting in more ways than one. The slot game starts off with an excellent introductory video clip that does justice to Cryptologic's superb gift for animation and graphics.
The bonus features in Street Fighter IV are awesome, with the round triggered by landing three Scatters anywhere on the reels. Players are immediately awarded 10 free spins, with the possibility of increasing multipliers considerably by choosing the right characters to fight it out.
The payout multipliers are determined by the fighting moves allocated to the player by pressing a 'stop' button and seeing whether the Street Fighter has landed a good move. For example, a punch multiplies winnings by six, while an Ultra Comba multiplies by a whopping 40 times!
All in all, slots analysts say that the new Street Fighter IV is slicker and more animated that the first Street Fighter II, giving it a slight edge - but only just.
