April 25 - The Hollywood Casino, which opened its doors to the
general public a couple of months ago at the popular Penn National Race Course,
has already requested permission from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to
expand its slots offerings.
The Penn slots casino already had 2020 slot machines, although it has
a license for a maximum of 5000. It has petitioned the Gaming Board to add a
further 250 slots machines, as well as another 45 electronic table gambling
units that offer games such as blackjack and poker.
According to the Chairman and CEO of Penn National Gaming Inc., the company
responsible for running the Penn slots casino, financial performance at the
location was pleasing and highly satisfactory. Revenue expectations had been
$228 on each slots machine per day, while recent statistics show that each
machine actually brought in revenue of $262 a day.
The Hollywood Casino released financial findings for its its first quarter
and showed that the company had generated nearly $40 million, compared to last
year's numbers of $11.9 million when it was still confined to the racetrack and
had not yet expanded to its present Grantville location.
Penn National Race Course's coffers were also nicely filled with revenues
from the Hollywood Casino. According to reports, the race course took nearly $5
million in expenses from the company for opening the facility in Grantville.
Another facility in Bangore, Maine is also due to be open in the near future.
